HI All
Hoping for some advice i found out yesterday that my father who passed away in January owes littlewood a sum of money,
The money left in his estate would have covered the debt, however as this was in January i now have spent the money and i didnt know there was any debt outstanding.
There was no will or lawyer as this was a shock too all family. and my father didnt have much at all to split, only a basic salary in his bank account.
Any advice will be appriciated
Thanks
Rob

This is why it's generally recommended that the money isn't distributed for a while to allow such debt to arise and not cause issues further down the line.
His estate will still owe the money. If there's no money left because it's already been distributed they can chase the beneficiaries or the executor, ultimately via the courts if an agreement can't be made.
They may just write it off, especially if it's a small amount but you do still legally owe it.0
