need advice on insurance issue

Hi All,

Basically I had a car written off and my insurance company sent me a cheque, but the cheque was name incorrectly so I asked for a new corrected cheque. During this period my insurance company cancelled my insurance in error as they said I had 14 days to insure a new car, but they started the 14 days from when the 1st cheque was issued.
Now they have accepted their mistake and they are asking if I have a new car yet and if I have new insurance for it as they dont do refunds so they could possibly reinstate the policy..

But what if I say to them that I already have a policy ( which I dont )

Firstly could someone please advise all my compensation options? My policy was only 2 months old in a 12 month contract when cancelled.
My worry is my new car is worth alot more and if they reinstate my policy and ask me to pay the difference then the difference could potentially be un-affordable for me..

Please help ask they are chasing me for answers..

  • You will simply need to declare what car you have irregardless to how much it will cost you if more unfortunately. You won't be insured if you don't state the correct car you have.. to be be insured if that makes sense?

Hate to say this, however if your insurance has paid out for the loss of your car, it has met its purpose. It doesn’t matter it was only two months old, it could be two days old. At that point the whole premium becomes payable. Most insurance companies will however allow you to insure a new car on the existing policy, however you have to do that within a certain amount of time. If the insurance has paid out you won’t get any refund on the premium.
