What to do where there is no response from the bank

Any suggestions as to what to do where there is no acknowledgement sent by the bank?
Amex:
My husband and I each sent a query to AmEx, via the instructions on their website which give an email address to send to and states that they will autoconvert a query to a complaint if PPI is found.
Problem is we sent the emails on 4th August and haven't had even an acknowledgement back.
Virgin Money:
Query raised online on 1st Aug (their website says they will convert a query to a complaint if PPI is found). No response at all.
Littlewoods
Complaint raised on their online form on 1st Aug. No response at all.
I guess for Amex we at least have the sent emails as proof that we contacted them, but nothing to prove Virgin or Littlewoods.

Did you actually have any PPI? From your post it doesn't seem you did...0 -

From your post it doesn't seem like you know or have any evidence.
So what will be your "complaint" if you send one ?0 -

Amex and Virgin - I don't know if there was PPI, hence the query rather than complaint. Littlewoods, yes I still have the statements showing it, hence complaint rather than query.
Other banks got back to me with an acknowledging form letter within a couple of weeks. My concern is that I have no proof that I sent anything to them, given the form was on their website (other than Amex where I have the sent email). The thing is, I can't think of anything else to do which will provide proof at this stage
Edited with further info since you edited your post while I was replying. Well my "complaint" will depend on whether any information they can supply in response to my query sparks any memories or allows me to dig further into the circumstances of the PPI sale. It would be a bit strange if I already knew what my "complaint" was in advance of even knowing if there was PPI on the account. Or do I detect the tiniest bit of sarcasm there?0 -

You need to understand that it was a myth sponsored by claim companies that PPI was routinely added without the knowledge and permission of the customer. So, even if you did have the insurance, this is not guaranteed to be refunded.
The only complaint I would be chasing an acknowledgement for is the one in which you can definitely prove you had the insurance. What complaint reason did you have for that one?Gonna-be-debt-free wrote: »since you edited your post while I was replying.0 -
