Driveway Quotes

Options
We have a front garden that we would like to turn into a driveway. It needs to be dug out as there was previously a brick wall border and the brick footings are still there. We have recieved quotes of between 5 and 6k for block paving/tarmac/concrete. This seems extortionate for the amount of work which would only take a few days. What have others paid for a garden to drive conversion? We are in Devon.

Do you need to get permission for a drop kerb from the council ?

Do they need to be an authorised contractor from the council list ?

    All affect the price

  • We already have a dropped kerb as we have an existing driveway so the 5k to 6k doesn't include that .
  • Size of drive ?
  • As a general rule of thumb allow £48 per sq for materials and about EXCLUDING BLOCKS for a professional job. Simple chose your shoes and add this to the per sq cost to get a final estimate.

Expect lower cost for simple blocks, more for setts etc.

As usual - Three quotes, would suggest not going with the cheapest!
