bPay/ Pingit difficulties

I have loved using my bPay keyring tag for the last couple of years. It is so freeing to go out in summer without a bulky wallet.

Barclays recently emailed to say bPay is being subsumed by Pingit, and they have sent me a Pingit tag. Annoyingly, the Pingit app must be downloaded on my very rarely used iPhone 5S.

I can't make it work at all! Sometimes it does nothing after entering my pin, and other times lets me enter everything short of whether I am a USA citizen, but only lets me select that I am!

(Pingit customer services don't have a clue.)

Anyone else had this aggro? :)

If Barclays is clueless about why its Pingit app doesn't work then the best thing to do is to uninstall the app and walk away.

If you're keen on the idea of being able to pay without having to carry a wallet or phone around - and prepared to pay £80 for the privilege - then there's this:

Why would you need a bulky wallet to carry debit/credit card(s)? I take it you don't have smartphone to use Apple/Google pay?

Thanks. I do have one, but even at arms' length, it gives me a headache, so it is kept for emergencies.
  • I too have been moved from bPay linked to a credit card to Pingit, linked to my bank account. O have got it to work except that I want it to auto-top my balance. Everytime I have gone on over the last week, I get a message to say the system is under maintenance and to come back later. How long does it take to maintain the system? If they can't fix it after a week do they really know what they are doing? Even worse, it does not say much for the reliability of Pingit or the technical backup available. Is the rest of it reliable? Come on Barclays, sort this out or this will fall flat on its face!
