Staffing Agency

I live in Essex area near Southend. I started a staffing agency business (nursing). I have everything up and ready to start supplying. I have staff ready to work but having a nightmare getting contracts. I call and am told to send emails which I never get replys. I have sent flyers. I could call and get given email addresses to email. Can anyone advise or help on what else I could do please :sad::sad::search::sad::sad::sad::search::sad::sad:

If you're approaching organisations who won't use your services without a contract, you may have a long haul ahead of you: if they've already got a contract with a satisfactory agency, why would they use yours?

And looking ahead, when contracts are up for renegotiation, why would they use your agency rather than another?

It is perhaps a question you should have addressed at a much earlier stage of the business, but may be worth looking at smaller organisations, depending on the skill set of your temps, but small nursing homes / convalescent homes etc?

  • I think it'll be difficult to get clients who are already satisfied with other agencies.

If you can visit in person and meet the people responsible for booking agency staff that will probably be more effective than phoning and emailing, even if it takes multiple attempts.

Can you offer free staff hours or a full refund guarantee to new customers to reassure them that your staff and service are as good as or better than their existing suppliers?

And advertising gifts may be effective at keeping your name in front of clients (especially calendars/wall planners, for booking holiday cover, obviously - and you are just at the start of the school year which may also be how many staff plan their hols)
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

so you have zero customers and zero idea how to get them?
why do you think you are capable of running an employment agency?
  • Q. What do you call a business with no customers?
  • Thank you for all your suggestions. Much appreciated

When I started my business, I had to develop an interest in cricket as that was just about the only thing on TV in the daytime at that time - it was quite a few years ago. I sent faxes and letters and telephoned and visited quite a few offices before I got my first client. You perhaps should develop a little patience.

PS. BTW the interest in cricket did not last because I became too busy with work to watch it.
