Tesco Bank say I have never had PPI, despite me providing a statement showing it

I've received a form letter from Tesco Bank saying "we are pleased to have been able to resolve your complain and can confirm your Tesco Bank Credit Card has not had Payment Protection Insurance added at any time" ..... despite the fact my complaint was supported by my copies of statements showing PPI ("Cardholder Protection Plan").

"if you decide you are unhappy with our response, you have the right to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service ..."

Should I try to contact Tesco to sort it out with them first? Do they reopen complainst? I assume they will be absolutely mobbed tomorrow, but I assume since my original complaint was before the deadline, it should be fine even though they have closed it.

Or at this point do I forget about Tesco themselves and go straight to the Ombudsman?
