Halifax scam call

Hi. I just had a call purporting to be from the Halifax quoting the first three numbers from my bank account. They said there had been some suspicious activity on my bank account. I was very wary of this call so hung up. I have checked my account online and cant yet see any dodgy activity. I checked the phone number and it is a Halifax number.
Does the Halifax call customers for this reason and should I do anything about it?

If it were me, I would ring Halifax on a confirmed phone number and ask them if the call was genuine or not, and whether there has been any suspicious activity on your account.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job0 -

Agree with the previous posts - call the number on the back of your Halifax debit or credit card, using a different handset to the one you were called on. They'll soon tell you if the call yo received was genuine or not.0

Phone Halifax right now. Either its a scam, or there has been suspicious activty.
I once had ?Lloyds? IIRC calling me and it turned out there was fraud but they were so useless that it took ages to get through to the right number and their callers sounded like scammers, wanting all my personal details.0 -
The first three numbers may be the same numbers for all the Halifax cards, this was a trick a scammer tried on my mum with her bank card number. She did know a bit about the bank she used and knew the call was fake.0

I would be more worried if they quoted the last 3 numbers, they are personal to your account.
the first three covers thousands of customers.
Treat every call from any bank a scam.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
