Just wondering if anyone else is having trouble as this cowboy firm just don't seem to be able to die?
My mother signed up late 2017 i think it was and had issue with them from day 1. Botched switching, incorrect billing, setting up 3 accounts (which they claim she still has today - instead of just the one), accusations that this company, that company & another company supply her electricity - companies she's never heard of or been with.
In the end she went to the Energy Ombudsman and just when she seemed to be getting somewhere - they closed & the customers were taken over by OVO.
7-8 months later Econ.Energy are pestering my mother for more money and threatening with debt collectors. She contacts OVO who say that if their letters/emails have 'such-&-such' detail in it then it's legit (it did) and she'd need to respond to it.
Contacts them, questions why she owes anything, gets told that they actually owe her and when you deduct what she owes them off what they owe her the final tally is that they owe her a small amount.
Promises of a call back - don't materialise. Surprise surprise, they never do.
Shortly after this she gets emails saying she owes them, despite what i just said. More threats of debt collectors. She calls back to question it, gets told that she should've never been told they owe her and she still owes them.
They accuse her of having left them (not true - she was still with them when OVO took over their customers ... a little different to actively leaving), they accuse her of having 3 accounts with them (boring! change the record!!), they accuse her of having moved to Scottish Power. She's never been with them ever.
I swear these clowns just wake up each day & think what crap can we make up today, if we repeat it enough then it must be true.
It got to the point the debt collector threats scared her too much and she just paid up. I question whether that'll really be the end of it.
Anyone else having trouble severing ties with this joke outfit?

How is a comapny that is no longer in existence in any meaningful way causing problems???
The date you mention, presumably gleaned from their website, is when the joint administrators took over, not when the company ceased to trade.0 -

Threats of debt collectors and mixed messages of you owe us money, actually we owe you money sorry about that, no we shouldn't have told you that you actually owe us money again and did we mention we'll send debt collectors to your house
That isn't a problem to you? I could think of better things for my day to be filled with than that.
Or am i mistaken and you're saying that you don't believe Economy Energy have said any of that within the past few weeks to my mother and the correspondence she has stating that must be bogus since they are "no longer in existence"?0
