During about 1985 -1995 I spent a large amount of money at the Makro store in Leicester using the credit card promoted by Makro. I am certain there was PPI involved.
Can anyone remember the name of the bank or credit card company concerned as I have long destroyed all my records?

I'm not sure it matters.
I'd bet that any Makro credit card and associated PPI would have been sold to you by, err, Makro.
1985-1995 would be pre-regulation for one thing. And for another, there's a very good chance that you records were deleted years ago.0 -

Has it been a concern over the past few years that you have been mis sold, if you have? If so, then complain directly to whoever sold you the policy.I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!0

Are you sure it was for PPI and not CPP?...there is a difference.0
