Can I swap supplier?
Hi, I posted last week about a discrepancy in my electric ppm costs. I discovered I was being charged £5 a week for a previous tenants debt which I have in writing from the company that it was cleared after the meter reading I sent them when I first moved in. I've contacted the company (twice now) and they say they're looking into it and are working out what I'm owed which is £155 or so from my workings.
So I'm still paying this debt off in the meantime as I obviously need to keep my electric topped up. My question is, can I switch supplier while this is being sorted or am I better off leaving it be until this is all sorted out? I've found a dual fuel plan I want to change which includes switching to a credit meter to but this issue is holding me back for the time being.
Thanks.

As hinted at there, yes you can change supplier
But if you are said to be in debt with your curent supplier (until they decide otherwise) they will probably just ask the new supplier to assume the debt and may stop investigating themselves.0 -
This is what I was concerned about. I have debtors letters that have come to my house with a previous tenant's name on it from the electric company so it's definitely not mine but I think I will just hold on until this has been sorted and keep me in their favour.
Thank you.0
