MBNA lost cheque

in Credit cards
Hello we recently remortgaged and had enough over to pay off our credit card with MBNA. The trouble is it got paid on an old slip and it went into their old account, apparently they have changed pay in details this year.
For 2 weeks now we have been calling them and the card still has not been paid off.
My husband was the one who noticed the account number was different when he was on the phone to them last week and discussed this with the person from MBNA..
He called them today and apparently they need more details when he gave them all the details last week.
He has to call back tomorrow when the department he needs is open.
It is really frustrating as it is over 16k!
Can anyone advise us what to do to get things sorted please.
regards
Kirsty

Wait for them to investigate and call back?0

Cancel cheque & make a payment direct to the account over the phone.Life in the slow lane0
-
As above cancel it and just do a bank transfer0

The cheque has been cashed0

The cheque has been cashed
Alternatively, you could write to one of the consumer experts at a newspaper (bit like 'Watchdog') and ask them to raise the issue with MBNA0 -
Where did you pay the cheque into?
It will be:- In the old clearing account if still open (Co-op Bank)
- In a suspense account at Co-op Bank
- In a suspense account of the bank you deposited the cheque at.
I would guess 1 or 3 are the most likely. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
