Taking a company in Qatar to small claims court. Possible?

So got job as teacher in April this year, resigned current teaching post. Offer for new job in Qatar was pulled in early July with no reason provided by either recruitment consultant or actual employer, Contract states 2 months notice must be given by either party. So I am in the hole for £1000 of incurred expenses (medical, legal etc..) and am owed 2 months pay (approx £7k) for contract breach. It is large company and has registered address in London, not sure if these actually are offices though.

Have I got any mileage in attempting to take this to small claims?

    what was the start date in the contract?

    Is the contract with a uk based organisation if not then you would likely be reliant on the legal system in the country they are based.

    Also what was the contract start date as most ‘notice’ periods usually referred to once contract has commenced

    Was it actually a formal offer that you received & accepted or a provisional/conditional one?

    It is perfectly possible to pursue a non-UK company through the UK courts.

    The more important questions are:
    1) Do the UK courts have jurisdiction to hear the dispute?
    2) Does the Defendant have any assets in the UK which could be used to satisfy a court judgment?

    You'd have to give a lot more detail about your case to know whether you have a valid claim here, or whether it is worth pursuing. The start point will be to understand what contracts you signed and what they say.
