We’re excited to be a long standing partner of the festival and as part of our support of the event we have tickets to give away to some of the events taking place over the weekend.

This week sees the return of the Freedom Festival for the twelve year. The festival is Hull’s annual celebration of the arts, which presents the very best in music, dance, comedy, theatre, dance, cabaret and art in one spectacular weekend of events.

We’re excited to be a long standing partner of the festival and as part of our support of the event we have tickets to give away to some of the events taking place over the weekend.

To be in with the chance of winning a pair of tickets, select from the list below which event you would like to go to. The deadline to enter is 12pm on Thursday 29 August, we’ll pick winners out of a hat and notify them by email. The tickets will need to be collected from our Carr Lane office in Hull city centre before 5pm on Friday 30 August.

Un Poyo Rojo
Friday 30 August, 9pm

It's kitsch, camp and hilarious, an extraordinary show of the array of man’s physical and emotional possibilities.

Poyo Rojo uses the language of acrobatics, dance and physical performance to explore masculinity and bravado - a contemporary, Argentinian physical theatre performance.

Bravely directed by Hermes Gaido (Mexico), performers Luciano Rosso (YouTube lip syncing sensation) and Nicolas Poggi have toured worldwide for the past 10 years - they now come to Hull.

Fidelis Fortibus
Saturday 31 August, 2.30pm

A comical and poetic CIRCUS performance with warm humour and slight melancholy, Fidelis Fortibus is a highly unusual solo performance created and performed by award winning circus legend Danny Ronaldo, who returns to Freedom Festival following his performance in 2012.

Danny appears in the ring alone, surrounded by a circle of buried circus artistes. The powerful illusions he creates brings the dead souls back to life. With the audience complicit in maintaining the illusion of the grand spectacle, giving applause and waves of laughter, it still sounds like a reality. He will never leave. Or perhaps he might. But would that be to give up? To be disloyal?

UduL
Saturday 31 August, 4pm

UduL is a unique visceral circus performance full of understanding and misunderstanding, false politeness, egos, cruelty and fear, delivered with wonderful Catalan humour.

The characters are the stars of a series of situations, which they modify with a mixture of tenacity, conviction and naturalness that goes beyond conflict or understanding. Repeatedly restarting situations until selling themselves at any price, no matter how ridiculous, in order to carry on living.

Winner of the National Prize for Culture 2016 (Generalitat of Catalonia), watch in awe as the basic blocks of the outdated body language that we carry around with us are reinvented.
