Check vs Complaint on Barclays website

As of lunchtime today, the Barclays website still has the PPI Check form available. The result will come back many days after the deadline tomorrow evening.
There's no mention on their site that it will be automatically converted to a complaint later if necessary. The only mention I can find that they will treat a check as beating the deadline is on the MSE PPI info page.

While putting in an actual complaint is best, you could still beat the deadline by enquiring if you ever had PPI by 11.59pm on Thursday 29 August. Every big bank or card firm we spoke to told us this'll work. What's more, now most automatically turn the check into a complaint later, but not all will – so see the bank-by-bank checklist below.
Bank-by-bank checklist
Banks used to treat a 'check whether you had PPI' and 'complaining about PPI' as separate things – meaning if an initial check turned up any PPI, you then had to submit a separate complaint to continue your case.
Now all banks we've spoken to have agreed with the regulator the FCA to class an enquiry as enough to beat the deadline. All banks below have confirmed to us that a check is enough, plus all automatically turn checks into complaints (other than Santander).
Meanwhile on the FCA site: - 'how to check'
As the deadline date approaches, some providers have committed to raise a complaint on your behalf if the PPI check leads to them locating a policy in your name.
[ snip ]
Remember: if you haven't complained to your provider by 29 August 2019, you won't be able to claim money back for PPI - so you should make your decision as soon as possible.
So does this mean that the only 100% guaranteed way to make sure your case is considered is to bypass the check and go straight for the complaint?

Just make a complaint, it’s too late in the day for checks. I’m not sure if Barclays are auto-converting checks into complaints so just complain and make sure you don’t fall foul of the deadline tomorrow night.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0
