Kitchen unit conundrum

Options
Hi all,

I had a new kitchen fitted about four years ago, which is still lovely and working fine, but I'm planning on adding something to it which is turning out to be a bit of a head-scratcher!

My kitchen is of the very small galley-style variety and at the moment, I've got all of my units and barely any worktop space on the right side of it, with three units high up on the left side of it, with a wall mounted drop-leaf table beneath them.

In order to give me more storage space, I want to put three 300mm deep base units on the left wall to match the ones above it (there's not enough room for full-depth units), but I don't want to lose the essential working space that the drop-leaf table gives me.

I'm looking for a solution that would involve either a slide-out table beneath a 300mm worktop that would be the full width of the three units or even some way to split a full-width worktop so that could be hinged and strong enough to be used as a normal one when extended.

I can't seem to find anything that matches this, so I'm wondering if it's possible. Any ideas?

have a look at these slimline units but the worktop would need to be about 320mm.

The quick and obvious solution is to just buy some wall units in the same style/range as your current kitchen. Vast majority of kitchen manufacturers have the same height doors on the base and "standard" wall units.

They'll also sell leg packs to floor-mount them and plinth to hide the legs.

For worktop, you could use one of the new compact laminate 12mm worktops.

Two options; either hinge and fold it so it looks 24mm when "not in use", or

Float a worktop 15mm above your units and use drawer runners (or similar) to "nest" a 300mm deep, 12mm high worktop between the top of the cabinets and the static worktop.

Either way, you'll probably want some detachable legs that you can use to support the weight when you want to use the worktop in it's deployed position.

You could also do both; use a plinth and a long piano hinge to create a flap between the top of the cabinets and the worktop and house the sliding worktop behind it. The plinth will support the normal worktop when the extended worktop is not in use.
