Tax credits

Can anyone help, I'm moving in with my boyfriend, what questions will hmrc ask, I'm a single parent atm and I have to ring them to stop my claim bcoz my circumstances will change, will they want any personal details like partners address or partners details even if im not going onto make a fresh claim as we will be over the threshold and we wont be entitled to anything, any help please

    They won't want to know any of his details because it's not his claim, it's yours.



    No new claims of tax credits can be made because all areas are now a full universal credit area. Sometimes UC can be more generous that tax credits. Pop all of your details, including your partners into a benefits calculator to see if you're entitled to anything.

    Yes, you'll need to tell them your new address.

    And you must tell them that you have formed a couple. This will end your Tax Credit claim. However they may still need to correspond with you about finalising the claim so will need your new address (as will Child Benefit etc.)
    Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

    If you still want to claim then you will need to make a Universal credit claim instead ( joint claim).
