Serious Illness Insurance Query

Hello,

I was just reviewing my mortgage papers from 14 years ago, and I noticed that on the life insurance we took out, the policy makes provision for serious illnesses unless excepted on the summary of protection.

The summary of protection states:

"the insurance amount will be paid if either of you die before the end date".

Am I being a little dumb? Does this mean we are covered for serious illnesses?

What is the exact phrase re illness in the policy docs is it "Serious" or "Terminal"?

If a policy did cover you for "Serious Illness" I would expect those illnesses to be defined by a whole list of what counted as a "Serious Illness" such as Cancer, Stroke, Heart Attack etc

in policy booklet it's "Serious".

What's in the policy schedule? The booklet might be generic and covering multiple different policy types. I wouldn't use it as a reference on what is covered.
