Serious Illness Insurance Query

Options
Hello,

I was just reviewing my mortgage papers from 14 years ago, and I noticed that on the life insurance we took out, the policy makes provision for serious illnesses unless excepted on the summary of protection.

The summary of protection states:

"the insurance amount will be paid if either of you die before the end date".

Am I being a little dumb? Does this mean we are covered for serious illnesses?

Any response would be extremely grateful, thank you.

The summary doesn't mention anything about serious illness.

A lot of life assurance plans have bolt-ons for various options. The generic documentation will often mention those options but the personalised schedule or quote will specify what cover you have.

None of this is PPI though, even if you do have an illness bolt on.
