M&S Bank Gift Card

I switched about 20 months ago to an M&S current account and was sent a £125 gift card then this was topped up every month for a year with £5 to give a total of £185 on the card.
I have not used this card at all and still has the full balance. I have been told conflicting stories by 2 different M&S branches. The first scanned the card and gave me a print out of the balance and said it expires 2 years after first topped up. The other branch told me as long as the card had not had anything spent off it then it won’t expire.
Any idea which is true? I don’t want to lose the £185 if it’s going to expire in a few months

My understanding is that it's valid for 24 months from the date of purchase (if unused) or 24 months from the last time it was used in a transaction. A balance inquiry also counts as a transaction for the purpose of resetting the 24 month timer. Your balance receipt might state the expiry date on it?

but a water in M&S, then keep it 24 months.
Dont you want to spend 50p on this compare to £185?0 -

And if M&S were to go bust overnight (which I think is extremely unlikely) you would lose the whole lot.
You can't be much of an M&S shopper if your card started loading 20 months ago yet you haven't spent a penny on it yet.
Don't think of the card as being worth £185 because almost everything in M&S is overpriced anyway.
What about a trip to one of their outlet stores and try to nab some cheaper clothing or slippers or something?
Either way if you don't use it you will lose it one way or another eventually.
Just a shame it has to be all loaded on one giftcard - if it was individual £10 vouchers you could start offloading some of it as Christmas presents.0
