Surely there’s a limit to the amount of days I’m expected to sit it for engineers/quotations etc. for something that’s not my fault.
No there isn't, but they have to be reasonable. Another technician visit is reasonable, as is asking for two or three estimates for the floor repair.

What are the warranty terms you are signed up to? It's important to know because that might determine whether or not the gas refill constituted a repair or not and how many attempts at repair they allow before other options might come into play.

I think your opportunity to get this resolved under consumer rights has gone now that you've started the warranty process. To get a repair, a replacement or a refund under consumer rights (and the latter two would have been tempered by the two years' use you'd already had from the appliance) you would have had to commission an independent inspection to show the fault was inherent, so I don't think that would have been an easy ride, either.

Over 2 years or under 2 years? All JL white goods have a 2 year retailer's warranty. The Hoover warranty will be one year only.

It was between 1 & 2 years so it’s the JL warranty I think.

    How much was it?

You do realise even if you get a refund it will be reduced to reflect the use already had.

And that’s absolutely fine, I just don’t think 2 years is an acceptable time for a fridge freezer to last. I need one that works and I expected better customer service from both companies in helping me to achieve this.
