O/S Daily Tuesday 27 August 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Clear sky and sun rising here - another hot day is forecast although the air is pleasantly cool at the moment, I have the back door open already and the cool air is lovely. Weather is still good after today but not so hot.

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my cuppa and porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.

Yesterday DH and myself had a brunch/lunch type meal - we had hot sausages, sweet chilli chicken kebabs, hot new potatoes, side salad, pork pie, scotch egg - was delicious and surprised that DH loved the sweet chilli chicken kebabs. Later he had some picky bits for dinner time snack I was still full so didn't bother. Tonight will be burgers - they will have bacon, cheese, mushrooms and salad in them. I need to buy some rolls on the way home from work.

On to today - back to work but only working today then off until next Monday - so hopefully some restful time, although I do have stuff I want to get done, hopefully it will be easier once it cools off a bit.

I'm working at the other office today and it's an old building so no air con - it'll be rather uncomfortable but at least it's my short day.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.

I've had a couple of days being a busy beetle, mostly in the garden. Nannywindows we are renting at present, but I do like gardening. It has been quite a job here though, back and front gardens very neglected and slowly I'm getting g them back in shape though the grass is pretty worn out. It might grow back, I hope so.

Yesterday Mr AOD went off to pick up his new glasses and they were not ready, that was probably the most exciting thing in his day, I went to bed early and slept like a log for 7 hours, tired from gardening, my knees ache now.

Not sure what today will bring, I expect the mister will be off for his specs again, I've always got things to do.

Thinking of those who are struggling with their own health ir worried about family members.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A nice sunny start here but chance of a thunderstorm later they say! Better put my brolly back in my bag just in case!

It's Tuesday so that means it's the day for my morning meet up with my oldest buddy for a couple of coffees and then lunch. Then a slow meander round town afterwards before heading for the bus up home. There are odd bits I need from Savers on route to the bus station. And maybe a pop into the cut price grocery/freezer shop to see if they have any offers too good to miss.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who need/want them. Hi to our absent friends. Take care all xx

    Morning all

Looks to be another scorcher here today shame we are back to work !
I have really enjoyed the long weekend, yesterday we walked right along the beach with the pup and she swam and ran and ran she was shattered last night and I have caught the sun a bit on my shoulders not so much that it hurts but just a nice bit of colour.

We then came home and bbq'q in the garden and spent a really pleasant few hours out there chatting and sharing a bottle of wine it was a lovely weekend.

Back to reality and work today although not long at all before our holiday.

Got to grab something out of the freezer for dinner tonight and im bck on the diet after quite a food heavy weekend.

Right better get on have good days all xx
  • Good morning, it's fine-ish here, but i know the weather is going to change. What a pity, it's been beautiful.

We went out yesterday to visit an old house and gardens nearby, strangely enough we've never visited before, considering it's so near.
It was all very nice, the gardens were at their peak and of course it was a lovely day. When we came back we went out for a meal, just at a newly opened place on our high street, we enjoyed it I would go there again.

The usual Tuesday looms, Tai chi, home housework, then quiz tonight. The boiler/fire man is coming again this afternoon. We're hoping that he remembers that he's supposed to be here, and also what he's here for.

Enjoy your Tuesday TA, it always sounds nice,

    Hope everyone has good days
    Take care folks xx

    Good morning everyone.

Dull, warm and wet here. Blazing sun gone away again.

Yesterday was a day of washing, reading and tidying up. I didn't venture into town as the weather was too hot to bother. The evening close meeting was a lovely diversion.

So, my task today will be to return stuff to M&S and have a wander around.

    Happy Tuesday to all.
  • Cooler this morning, yesterday was so hot!!! even with the fan running I felt it.

Meeting this morning so need my feet on the floor, also need to ring and renew my green flag breakdown cover, it runs out at the weekend.

They have taken the money for the LPA's so we await their return, then everything is tied up and watertight.

OH wants stovies for supper.......depends how hot it is and if I feel like cooking.

We are in sunny Yorkshire. We left later than expected because Laura and Brian came on their way back from the festival and stayed until mid-afternoon. We stopped at a pub we've enjoyed eating at on the way for dinner but got their at 7pm and they were closing the kitchen so we stopped at the next and had a passable meal.

Laura had a midwife visit, now she's having a home birth the midwives go to her, such luxury. Everything was fine and she was there nearly two hours going over things, when the NHS works it really works. The midwife has given her a fit to fly certificate to show the airline if she is asked, they go to Greece tomorrow for a week.

Steve has new glasses and contacts to collect which hopefully will help with the eye problems he developed during his treatment.

I've washed the kitchen and hall floors so am marooned in the dining room until it dries other than in dire emergency which is usually Mr AOD wanting a cup of coffee and walking all over it without noticing so I get to do it again.

The sun is out but not too hot, though I do love being warm.

  • Yes cooler here today also, not raining at the moment so that's good :)
Horses were out last night which is nice for them and nice for us, no mucking out.
Cooked a chicken dinner last night family came over, it was lovely and made a victoria sandwich cake for afters. Cleaned top to bottom as well and washed a pair of curtains and a rug. Tomatoes are definitely turning and are orangy at the minute, they will probably be ripe when I am away!
Needs to be a much slower day today as I am shattered from yesterday.
Weight loss is on stop again I am only 2lb from target so it is frustrating, never mind I am sure it will happen.
Last lot of jam has set so that's good news.
Have a lovely day everyone, sending hugs to those in need x
Weight loss 6lb/16lb 10lb to go
I spend an insane amount of time wondering if I am doing it right, sometimes I remind myself that I am doing my best....and that is enough
