Converting a pond into seating area

Hi
I have an idea for a pond to turn it into a sunken seating area. Has anyone done this?
I think it will be a big job but I want to do as much as I can myself to save money. It doesn't have to be perfect as it may get ripped out in a few years when we redo the garden fully.
I just wanted to make the pond useful until then.
I've attached a picture that looks like my pond, though mine is square, and what I'm aiming for.

That pond built up rather than sunken. If yours is like that you've got some digging to do.0

My pond is built.both up and down. (I didn't build it) it's about 1 ft of brick up and about 2-3 ft deep at most so I don't think I'll need to dig. It's more how to break the wall nicely to make a step down into it0

Mark the area you want to cut out. With a large angle grinder or Stihl saw (either, with a diamond blade). cut either side out. Please wear a decent dust mask and goggles - The dust can do serious damage to your lungs.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
If the seating area is going to be below the surround ground level it will act as a sump for rainfall. You may need to install a pump of some sort to remove rainwater or you could end up with a combined sunken seating area and pond.0
