Retail Protection

I helped a friend with some PPI complaints a few months back and now a friend of hers has asked me something about it (a bit last minute I know!).
She has found the invoice for her car that states she bought the car with a 2yr warranty, Pure Guard and Retail Protection. There is a series of letters and numbers after the words “Retail Protection” (possibly a policy number?) and it cost £299.
I’ve seen Retail Payment Protection as a name used for PPI (on MSE), but not Retail Protection - could it mean PPI or is it just the name for something else entirely?
Thanks

If it's post January 2005, you could enquire of the dealer what the insurance covered, but it's likely to have been GAP insurance which is not PPI.0 -
I have seen that phrase used with some GAP insurance.0

It's another name for "Back to Invoice Price" Gap Insurance - £299 is typically the standard price for cars with a price up to £15,000. Pure-guard is a fancy form of very expensive polish. Who's the dealer and when does the sale date from.0

Well it certainly could have been mis-applied.0 -
Thanks everyone
it’s definitely just GAP insurance!
I relayed back to her that it could just be another name for GAP insurance to see if that rang any bells and response was “oh yes, possibly”.
I also asked if she had more paperwork, maybe a breakdown of the finance and her response was “What finance? I paid cash!” haha mystery solved then! I should have asked her that first!0
