  • But they haven't just taken it out and turned it on, they've set it up - which includes linking it to an account and going through all the set up options.

That, in my opinion, is going beyond what is covered in the CCRs.

Why in God's name would you buy a £600 phone from Cash Converters….there's always going to be a problem with returning it at ANY stage for ANY reason FGS!

Maybe they don't, and perhaps all their "new" phones are of the type that have "just been turned on, set up and reset".

Exactly. It's not as if £600 doesn't get you a fantastic, genuinely new phone from an approved retailer. Baffling.

To be fair we've got no idea what phone it is. Top end iPhones will set you back about £1200 and the new top end Samsung is about £1600. £600 could be a bargain.

In regards to the OP I agree with the others, given your actions I'd expect them to be making a reduction in what they refund. How much that'll be isn't clear but I wouldn't expect it to be excessive. Have you asked them what the refund amount will be?
  • Well, just to let you all know that after using my legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations, I was awarded a full refund.

    Funny how often that happens.

No hamper? I'd be onto them about that.

Great customer service from Cash Converters then, they offered you goodwill and went above what they were required to.
