PocketGPS was built by faithfull members to get an up to date and more accurate database of cameras in the UK then the site ripped everyone off and strted to charge the members for downloading all thier own hard work.
I know that it is totally innacurate around my area with cameras missing or showing 500 yards to go when you are right on them.... There is also a few forums where people have been posting about how they have submitted cameras that are wrong on purpose.
PocketGPS say they verify them but they dont.. As for the torrent links.... Do so at your own risk... I have heard PocketGPS put dudds on to discourage people downloading them as they will always be innacurate..
If you want a better product for cameras for TOMTOM try this
http://www.embeddedtechnology.co.uk/talextt.html
I have the standalone Talex Lite unit and its excellent. The program has these features
Why should I buy this Talex TT application when my Tomtom already has speed camera locations included?
Most camera alert software available as and add on to portable satellite navigation systems warn the driver whenever they enter a circular region around a camera, regardless of their direction of travel, their actual speed or the road they are travelling on.- Talex TT will give an over-speed warning in close proximity to the camera if exceeding the speed limit, but will automatically mute when you are within the speed limit.
- It is direction sensitive, so Talex TT will not generate false alerts when a camera is monitoring traffic travelling in the opposite direction.
- It is road specific, so the driver is advised only of cameras on the road they are driving along, thereby negating false alerts.

£24.99 for download of the software and 12 months subscription (same as pocketGPS)0 -
Pocketgps one's are maintained by the users, i.e. a pocketgps member sees a camera, they press a button which logs the location, and this is sent to pocketgps. If you read some sites some people think the pocket gps one's aren't accurate and some people have said they've reported a camera which hasn't been added.
Firstly you need a bittorrent client.
Torrent websites
Search for tomtom camera
Click download torrent and open with XXXXX
Wait for it to download. You may need to unzip/unrar the file using winzip or winrar (I think freeware equivalents are around somewhere) then transfer the extracted files to your tomtom, if it works like the pocketpc version you have to transfer it to the map folder.
On the tomtom, go into poi options and basically you want to set it up so it alerts you to the speed cameras.
Forum rules state
Even though there are some legitimate uses there is a blanket ban on P2P topics. This is done to protect this site and its resources.
Better have a rethink on your post I would say0 -
Before anyone pays a subscription to the TomTom traffic reports you can get free traffic updates from here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=27227&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
offline traffic news, this is legit so no worries about p2p, the only thing is you need to have .Net 2 installed (WinXP SP2 has this as standard I think). Once you get it working it'll scour the traffic update sites & download an OV2 file to your "My Documents" folder which is easily copied to your TomTom map folder.Winnings

Thanks scooter, wasn't aware of that.
I am guessing pocketgps will start charging for that POI database thing (supermarkets, restaurants etc) as well which doesn't seem that great to me when I used it a few months ago. So it will be a case of stealing everyone's contributions they gave for no renumeration, for pocketgps to make more money.0 -
Even easier than LuciferTDark's post, use the following site http://www.delphi-dolphin.com/0

Actually, I think people are being unfair about pocketgps, as they gave free lifetime membership to those who have submitted speed cameras to the database. So, if you have contributed to the database, you get free access to it (and all updates) for life. They are only charing those who have never contributed. At the end of the day, they've got server costs to pay. If you don't contributed by submitting cameras, you contribute by paying a little something to the running costs. You can still get free membership if you submit a couple of new cameras to the database. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

But there are better more accurate commercial products out there for the same price if not cheaper.0
