I should have thought of coming here a long time ago: has anybody come across these people in their PPI travels ? They used to be a High Street clothes retailer for men and have long since gone bust. I have spent much of August trying to find who may have been responsible for financing the store card that I had with them in 1999, but not had any joy so far.
Needless to say, after 20 years, I don't have the paperwork and the account was closed after a short time, so I am trying to discover who the finance company was behind it because I am pretty sure that PPI was in play.
Santander (who, I am told, took on the books of many companies that did store cards) say it's not them. Somebody had suggested to me that GE Finance (or was it GE Capital ?) had financed store cards and I asked about that. Santander offered (and I accepted) the idea of registering a "blind complaint" in respect of GE who they said may have been a possible "parent" company. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but meantime, I continued investigating.
Thanks.

- Resolver: (which I have been using for my other claims) - not listed.
- FCA: not listed.
- FSCS: no record, in any case, it was before 14 April 2005 so they cannot help
- Financial Ombudsman: no record of the company.
- Has anybody here come across Ciro Citterio and if so do they know who their finance company was ?
- Is it worth trying a claims company that is willing to take on pre-2005 cases ?
- If yes to that, are there good ones at pre-2005 cases ?
Thanks.

What’re you expecting a CMC to achieve that you can’t? Especially as there’s 3 days left before deadline, it adds another line of unnecessary paperwork and messing abouthelpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
Well, yes but over the next three days, I do not have a lot of time to spend on this. If I know who to write to, I can do that easily in three days. But if it takes me 4 days or more to find out who to write to it might be quicker to ask somebody who knows and pay their fee. That's why I was asking if anybody knows if any of these companies are particularly good in this type of case, if it comes to that.0

There will be no promotion of a Claims Company here.0

I understand.0

As CMCs are not typically professional companies but employ unqualified bored mums and students to do the work, it is possible that they may actually have heard of Ciro Citterio. However, probably no more than beyond the shop point of view.0

After 20 years, you have no paperwork, you dont know who to contact, any paperwork that did exist has likley been destroyed by now, and you have 3 days till the deadline........hmmmm.
Its a non starter OP, you need paperwork, or information of some kind on the policy in order to make a complaint, i think the boat has sailed on this one.
Don`t as a last resort engage the services of a CMC, all they will do is mess you around for a few months, then say sorry, couldnt do anything, and present you with a bill for £2500.00.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Really ?
Well we have had two cases in the last month were the OP responded to what they thought was a free PPI search, turned out they didnt read the small print, and just asking the company to look would cost them a 20% fee, regardless of if any monies were recovered, or not.
Gross exageration ? bit harsh, slight one possibley, but these claims companies are shysters, and as transparent as mud.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. In your scenario, the CMC would charge £2.5K to say there was nothing they can do. That's entirely different to the "two cases" you cite.
Regardless, CMCs are now fully (and belatedly) regulated..0 -
Ciro Cittero was financed by either Creation, Beneficial Finance or Chartered Trust. The latter may have been bought out by Lloyds so it is worth persuing there also. Complete the online PPI checker forms for each company to get the ball rolling. They will be able to identify which company financed Ciro Cittero and if you had PPI on the account.
You don't need a claims company, the online forms are very easy. But be quick, deadline is looming.0
