  • So that already makes it a better card than the Natwest one you’re being offered since tandem offers cashback.

Very true, but for the small amounts I would probably spend on the card, the cashback wouldn't amount to much.
Although any "free" cash is better than none :)

Spend more on it then? I buy pretty much everything on a cash back card and then just pay it off each month from the bank. Free money on things I'd be buying anyway!

I'd just keep things as they are - when some providers "switch" your card, they just close the account and open the new one. You want to avoid this as having a long-standing open account shows you can manage credit responsibly and looks good to lenders.

I'd also use the Tandem card more - as above since it pays cashback it is basically the best everyday spending card you have so I'd use it as much as possible for your regular spending. Set up a DD from your Monzo (or whatever account you use for day to day banking) to pay it off in full every month.

I have spoken to Nat West today and their advice was to apply for the new card and then cancel the existing one, as they could not just swap it, so that idea is out of the window lol

As for the cashback, I have tried using my Nationwide CC for all everyday spending just as an experiment and the cashback | have earned so far this year is the princely sum of £4.66 :rotfl:
