Vanquis CC

in Credit cards
I have recently turned 18 and I'm very conscious of building a positive credit history. I have applied for a vanquis cc and after a call with them I was told I've been accepted for a card with £500 credit limit. Result. The card will purely be for building credit history and just as a stepping stone, paid off in full each month and not to borrow long term.
I am currently studying an accounting apprenticeship so I know a fair bit about finances and not here asking for a life lesson please.
I received my pin in the post over the weekend but also received a letter titled "let's finalise your application" asking for further identification, which has confused me. Why send a pin with a card to follow without a finalised application?
Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Has anyone else experienced something like this and is it just a delay on their end? Doesn't seem very clear or professional in my opinion.
All replies are appreciated.

Do as they’ve requested otherwise they may close the card.
Something else has obviously cropped up post application acceptance.0 -

We see this here fairly often.
My thinking is that punters have to pass, let's say for the sake of argument, five checks.
Four of them are carried out quickly. The remaining one takes a while longer.
Issuing a card and PIN and getting a customer up and running usually takes about ten days or so.
Rather than delay the whole process while the final check is being made, for expediency, card companies begin setting up a new account immediately. They know they can close it later if they have to.
Give Vanquis whatever information they require, otherwise they will close the account.
My guess is that you're not showing as being on the electoral register. I moved in June 2018 and my entry wasn't updated until December 2018.0 -
The final check could be an financial assessment to see if you have appropriate funds to manage the credit card payments. When my Vanquis credit card got increased from £250 to £500 they asked me to send proof of income which I did and it was accepted.0

It's not unheard of.
Vanquis has recently changed many of its policies too, and not for the better.
I am aware that Vanquis now ask for various proof of address to change an address on an existing account.
HooYu apparently do these checks for Vanquis, trouble is if you have an account and never supplied ID to start with and don't have a photo ID, you cant change the address!
Not sure if anyone knew this.
But, yes sometimes they do ask for ID.0
