Norton Internet Security

Hi all

i have recently purchase a new laptop and got Norton internet security free with it with 2 months subscription. I have 35 days left on the subscription. I have noticed on here that not a lot of people like norton. Why is this and would it be wise for me to get rid and use AVG for anti virus and Zone Alarm for the firewall.
Any advice is welcomed

Regards

Sam

Yes it would be very wise indeed Norton is a system hog and uses valuable resources especially on a laptop.

I would use Avast anti virus over AVG and I would use commodo firewall which are top quality and free.

If you want a one stop shop I would would recommended Kaspersky internet security V7.
  • I have used Avast, AVG and Norton. I found Avast a complete pain. I liked AVG but that started to slow my computer down - don't know why. Have recently purchased a new desktop and a new lapton - both with Norton and I am very happy with it. If you read thru old posts you will find some people hate Norton and some love it. I guess you should give it a try and see for yourself.

  • Thanks for all your advice, i dont know if my laptop would be any quicker if it was without Norton as thats all I have used so far. What do you all reckon should I renew my subs or go for a freebie

  • ESET have just released a security suite and a new version of their award winning anitvirus NOD32. I use NOD32 and found it to be one of the best AntiVirus i've every used. Most important it doesn't slow your system down:j Also if your running Vista Comodo firewall with not run on Vista. Although i have heard they are working on this.
Don't listen to the bad things about Vista its the best

Just because it's free don't mean it's good

    Ditch Norton Now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wall:

Just Because you read it some where don't mean it's right ;)

Freebie all the way. I have run AVG and Zone Alarm for years on all my PC's/laptops and have never had a problem.

Norton used to be ok years ago, but now is bloated full of rubbish and slows everything down. Not just Norton though, McAfee etc are the same:rolleyes:
