Unemployed but with high savings

I am in a similar position. I have opted not to register with the job centre because even if you don't get any money you still have to follow the rules and apply for lots of jobs, provide evidence of that etc etc. As I don't want to go through all that I will live off savings and pay my own NI this year.
But I only have one year before state retirement pension kicks in and your situation is probably different. So knowing the facts, work out what's best for you.0 -

Do you need to pay NI?0 -
Neither had I - the changes in the JC's function was announced and discussed in the media.
I'm in a similar position to the OP, but my one experience of visiting the JC in 1994 was enough to put me off ever going near there again. I had to jump through a load of hoops to get about 3 weeks NI contributions before finding a new job myself.
If you are employed/self employed and haven't had the need for the JC in years, the changes could quite easily have passed you by. It has me.Make £2026 in 2026
