Council Tax often not payable on an empty property requiring renovation. Certainly 12 months in my area.0

Unfortunately this is at discretion of your local council and mine does not make any exception for council tax on unoccupied properties.

Rodders53 I was not trying to economise by saving money on my AAA. The original amount of 20% of cost of repairs was replaced a few years back by insurer adding an endorsement to the policy (new small clause on back page). If it had been drawn to my attention I would probably have increased the amount.
I am surprised they did not add some special deal where you could pay more and get more AAA insured. But the policy was just left to roll over as it was....0 -
Yeah you should take it up with the insurer and make sure that they are aware of the situation. I had to think about stuff like that when our building was condemned and we had to move to temporary housing while they restored the building or built a new one where we were promised a flat. The government gave us the contact information about some commercial movers that helped us to pack our things and our cars and we stayed there for close to a year. The AAA was large though around 600 pounds and plus we had money to spare.0
