Do modern fridge freezers still need to stand before plugging in?

Thanks for all your help, everyone! I had a very sleepless night worrying about it.
The freezer is totally frost free - there's no hint of ice anywhere in it.
However, we've solved the conundrum. For £20 (£10 less than the fee Currys are charging), AO.com offer a standalone collection/recycling service. They're available to come and collect our old one the day after delivery of the new one. It's going to be a bit tight in the kitchen for a day, but totally worth it to save our food!
Just thought I'd update as the fee AO.com charge seems very reasonable, especially considering our council charge is £65.0 -

Doesn't the OP need to keep the old one plugged in and full of food until the new one has settled and chilled down?A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -

For one day it isn't worth it in my opinion. It is just one day of an awkward obstruction in the kitchen.

I know it’s sorted but thought I’d mention that the freezer compartment is the best insulated space in the house regardless of whether it’s turned on or not. Putting stuff straight in the new freezer would have better than baths with ice and duvets etc.0

When I got my fridge freezer delivered, I just plugged it in straight away then packed my food into it a few hours later. More than ten years later, that same fridge freezer is still running.
As you've probably already gathered, I personally wouldn't worry about it.0 -

Not always.
A well stocked freezer will normally keep the contents totally frozen for at least 10-12 hours once power has been disconnected provided that the door is kept shut.0
