Ants in a acer pot.
Options
Noticed my acer was looking a bit sad and it has been a tad neglected this year. But while chucking some food in its direction, I noticed an ants nest has taken up residence.
How do I persuade them to move emsewhere? Preferably organically.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

If they've paid no rent, serve them a S8?0

Never tried it, but apparently moist soil will force a move. They love dry & crumbly
I've no idea if your acer will mind always moist soil
Otherwise it's Antstop or similar productsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Yup they love dry for tunnelling their nests but flooding them out might not shift them too far. With some lavender I had, I just moved the pot somewhere convenient and out of the way, repotted it with fresh compo, put it back and left the old compo with the ants to find somewhere else to live
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
Maybe if you place a container with Nippon or whatever's produced these days alongside the pot, the workers will find it, take it back to the others and all will die.Not entrely organic, but small quantities involved and you aren't going to eat the acer.
I once got rid of ants using whisky and sugar similarly, but it was all I had at the time and I've no idea why it worked!0 -
A combination of tooth rot and alcohol poisoning I should think Davesnave.
I think they have taken up residence in my parsley pot but I'm reluctant to clear it out as last time I had a similar problem, they all rushed out and bit me.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
