Answering the "How long have you had your driving license" question for car insurance quotes

I'm renewing my car insurance for the first time soon so I'm not too sure how to answer this question - I'm noticing that quotes are vastly less expensive (by several £100s) if I mention that I've had my license for 1 year rather than if I've had it for 11 months and 2-3 weeks..
Can I just tick 1 year if a year hasn't passed, but will have when I want the date of the new insurance to start? I'm closer to "1 year" of having a full license than 11 months anyways, or are the insurers super strict about this kind of thing?
Thanks

Depends, if they want to be awkward about it, in the event of a claim, it may be deemed as ‘false information’ so you’d be invalid.
(However don’t quote me on this as every time I offer advice, a lot of people get extremely angry about how it’s always wrong)
Probably best to do the opposite of what I sayThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The relevant bit for all the details is the date the insurance comes in to force. For instance, you won't quite have 1 years no claim discount but you declare 1 year because you will have that at policy inception.
If your licence is genuinely over 1 year on the date the insurance comes in to force then you will be ok.0
