I compare my active portfolio to a couple of index funds, HSBC FTSE World and VLS100 (I am overweight UK but not as much as VLS100 so I sit somewhere between the two). To monitor risk/return I use the Portfolio tool on Trustnet. That tells me that my portfolio's FE risk is 97, while HSBC is 113 and VLS100 is 107. That gives me enough confidence that I am not taking too much risk.0
