Best Mixed Current Account

Hi, I just wanted to gauge the opinion of the knowledgable people in the forum about the best deals on mixed (in/out of credit) current accounts? I've read the article and had a look at the A&L website, but I've found that Nationwide have a better account. Any views?

Thanks,
Dave

I would recommend you take a look at the Norwich and Peterborough Gold Current Account. You get a good rate of interest on credit balances and the OD rate is pretty good at around 9%. They are great to deal with - if you phone you get through to their Peterborough call centre and talk to real humans who can help. I've only phoned a few times and I can even recognise who I am talking to! They are really helpful and handled my account transfer impeccably - not a single DD was missed or got called from the wrong account. You get the impression they want to help to make things work.

You get a VISA debit card and a cheque book and they will supply prepaid enveloped for cheque deposits if you have no branch nearby.

They offer six month's zero interest on ODs if you let them handle the switch. They agreed to match the £1500 OD I had with my old bank and, unlike the A&L, there was no stipulation that I had to have been in credit for any period of time.
