Vacuum cleaners - again!

Sorry folks - I know there are already threads on this subject but I still can't find the info I want! I need a new upright vac costing no more than £100 to deal with mainly carpets and a long haired dog. A lightish one would help too as I have arthritis. I already have a Bosch cylinder but it takes too long to do the carpets downstairs with it. I have a Dyson but it is dying after about 4 years and I feel that they are overpriced. Any ideas? manythanks

topsales, I don't want to start a 'this one's better' argument but I did notice your arthritis comment.
I recently selected a Panasonic based on two reasons - weight is a primary factor for me and access is another. The one I got has been replaced by this http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.202-3915.aspx one, it is lighter than most and it lays down alnmost completely flat to get under the furniture. If you can get to an electrical store and see it you will notice the difference.0 -
I've got the same one as recommended by andrew-b and it's great!
We had a Dyson which died just after the guarantee ran out and replaced it with the Electrolux, we have a black cat and light coloured furniture and carpets - no complaints at all, it shifts the hairs and it's not too heavy either!0 -
Hi Across - have you tried the Argos one yet? Does look good but may not BE good!0
