Quite possibly, go here and check: http://www.iconv.com/file.htm
Alternatively, reply with where you got the file and someone will tell you what you need to open it.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -

I don't really see anything appropriate. Are you sure the extension is ".m"? It would be really stupid of them to send you something really proprietary and rare format. If it genuinely is ".m" then ask them to send it you again in a proper file format."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

So assuming the site I referenced above didn't work for you, then you could try a spreadsheet program? Or maybe something like Microsoft Word? Do you have an inkling as to what program they used to create the file? If not, then it maybe advisable to email them and ask them how you open the file so as not to corrupt any of the information contained within it.
.M isn't a known file type as far as I know, unless someone else knows differently? It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
