Claims company did not have my authorisation

I just tried to post this and it disappeared. I’m sorry if it’s posted twice.
A while ago, I ended up giving a CMC my details as they were calling me all the time and I just gave in. However, I then didn’t bother signing and returning the forms they sent me. The form was to confirm details were correct and to give them authorisation to act on my behalf.
I recieved a letter from lloyds saying they’d recieved a complaint on my behalf from the CMC but as they (the CMC) didn’t have authorisation to act on my behalf, Lloyds would communicate with me directly.
Great! I thought. And this spurred me on to get my act together and contact other providers too.
Lloyds wrote to me recently to say they were giving me £1300. The CMC text on the same day to say the same thing- I don’t know how/why they were updated.
Now the CMC are pursuing me for their share of the money. If I never signed the forms and never gave them official authorisation to act on my behalf then do I really owe them the money?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Which cmc and when.
You can check if they are registered with the FCA.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
The company is Help Your Claim.
I think they’ve been cold-contacting me for over a year. They kept sending and re-sending forms, going quiet for a few months, then popping back up again.
I gave them the details about my Lloyds credit card a few months ago. Lloyds wrote to me in June (the letter I mentioned above) and then I got the news that the claim was successful about a week ago0 -

You’ve answered your own question - it looks like they did have authorisation. You’ve probably signed a letter of authority, hence they’ve billed you accordingly.
Ask them for a copy and you’ll see what they have your scribble on. My money’s on a valid letter of authorityhelpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
I will ask to see what authorisation they have, that’s a good idea.
I just don’t see how they can have my signature anywhere when I’ve not signed or returned their form?
In essence, this is what happened:
They cold called to say “did you have a credit card?”
I said, yes, with Lloyds. They said they would file a PPI claim. I said ok. Bye. [i summarise!]
Then they did call me again to tell me they needed my signature and would send me a form to sign and return. I received the form and didn’t do anything with it. It’s here on my desk, unsigned.
Then I got a letter directly from lloyds to say they were going ahead with investigating the claim but would communicate only with me directly because Help Your Claims did not have a valid letter of authorisation from me to allow them to work on my behalf.
I’ve not communicated with HYC since but they are texting and writing letters asking for £300.0 -
In that case then, as Lloyd’s don’t have a valid LOA on file, they shouldn’t have sent HYC a copy of your final response letter.
I’d be contacting Lloyd’s to find out what they’re up to and make a complaint.helpful tips
