Credit Card Recommendations?

Hi all,
I am new to this forum and not very money-savvy although I am 100% debt-free.
However, I have heard it's a good idea to have a credit card in order to start building a good credit history. I am the kind of person that doesn't spend money they don't have, however, I think it's a good idea to get me a credit card, use it occasionally and pay it back within the next month to start building a positive credit history.
I currently do all my banking with Lloyds and also use Monzo for daily grocery/leisure shopping.
Can anyone recommend a good/free to use credit card?
Appreciate any help or advice. Thanks!

Hi positronicfuture and welcome to the forum
For your first card, I recommend making an application for a Lloyds card, as they already know you and will have evidence of how you manage your money.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Use an eligibility checker.
If you want to go with Lloyds as you bank with them, they have one on their site as well.0 -
Any card really would be suitable for getting started, however as above asking your existing bank for a card may be the best option since they already have most of your details and are better positioned to make a decision that someone new. Failing that, there are plenty of providers who offer cards to people with little or bad credit history. Make sure to use an eligibility checker before you apply. It doesn't really matter if they are a mainstream lender or not, as long as you make a purchases on the card every month (stuff you'd normally buy anyway like petrol or groceries) and pay it off IN FULL every month. Over time this will demonstrate that you can manage credit responsibly and should lead to limit increases and you becoming eligible for better offers.
