Dementia patient

I'm posting on behalf of my friend whose mum was diagnosed with dementia around 18 months.

Things are becoming more difficult for the family to deal with by themselves and they are looking at sorting out carers to come in which from the gist I get they will be paying for privately owing to earnings from the friends dad and I'm not 100% positive but possible savings too.

They've enquired about attendance allowance and been told that's not an option and as the lady is 74 I understand PIP isn't an option either. I just wondered if there was any other sort of help they might be entitled too?

From the practical side of things a POA is being sorted, I just want to be able to offer as much help and guidance as I can
