Home Insurance t&c's - any comments ?

Hi all.
My home insurance is due for renewal and I have received the renewal quote (policy expert). It has increased slightly but on checking the documents they have added an endorsement - that keys should be out of their locks and hidden away (to paraphrase) at all times and any claim where it is found that the keys are in their lock will be dismissed. I contacted them as it is our usual routine to leave the door keys in their locks at night time only. Both doors are solid with no windows so no chance of reaching the keys from outside. We leave the keys in because if someone has a duplicate key, they can't get it in the lock and also, if there is a fire and the house is full of smoke we know where the keys are and can get out quickly. Our insurers would not remove the endorsement so they were informed that we would not be renewing with them.
So, in true MSE fashion, I tried the four price comparison sites and three others (aviva, direct line and lv=).
On getting to the last page of the lv= quote page, I was asked whether we had central heating. On replying to the affirmative, I was asked what type. On replying 'oil', a large box appeared informing me that the quote has been cancelled as lv= do not insure houses with oil central heating !!!! Apparently, there are five million households that are not on the gas grid, so it is a fair bet that quite a few use heating oil.
In over forty years of buying house insurance I have never come across such t&c's attached to house insurance as these. There are lots of companies that will insure us, so we are not uninsurable, but I would be very interested to hear your comments/thoughts, etc.

get a broker to find an insurer with your needs"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Regarding the keys, it's a bit odd, but you can see where they are coming from.
Regarding the oil heating, I guess the main concerns is lack/more lax regulation/certification on these systems as opposed to gas and higher chance of something going wrong. LV= just don't have appetite for that risk and chose to not insure such properties. Hardly unusual for an insured to chose not to insure against specific risks.0
