Hello.
My uncle lives in south Bucks and we were talking the other day about his old eye level gas cooker he used to have and when i used to stay with him and burn the toast on the grill cos i could barely reach it.
Anyhow he mentioned that he still has the 15mm gas pipe running from the 28mm pipe that feeds the back boiler to where the old cooker was and he said he would like it removed as it's unsightly and he kepps knocking it with the saucepans and when he cleans the tiles around the cooker.
Can somebody tell the rough price it would cost to cap off the old gas pipe near to the 28mm pipe with all the legal certificates/paperwork that will be needed please.

assuming you can access easily enough where it is to be terminated i.e not having to take kitchen cupboards off walls and the like we would charge something like £95 for this as a gas safe company (we are limited so probably cheaper from a one man band but make sure they are gas safe)Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

I think it's easy to get to as there is about 1 foot clearance from top of cupboards to the ceiling and the gas pipe is about 4 inch's from the ceiling and easy enough to put steps near to the units so you are over reaching.

To update this thread.
My uncle has a service plan/breakdown cover with BG and he had his service yesterday and while the BG person was there he asked them how much would he think it would cost for a person to cap it off.
The BG bloke looked at and said do you use it and my uncle said no as there has never been a gas cooker in the house for over 40 years and the bloke was looking at the pipe run and when he noticed the end fitting was a butterfly connection he was in a panic and said he would have to cap it off as it was deemed dangerous as if somebody knocked the butterfly part at it was opened then the house would fill with gas.
The bloke capped it off straight away and took the pipe away and finished his service and gave him some paperwork.
My uncle mentioned that over the past 4-5 years he also did show the BG people about the pipe when they came for the annual service but they nevr mention it was dagerous and this BG person was shocked and said he would talk to his bosses but may well be the last he hears.0
