It would point to an issue with the meter.
Do you have a complex meter with multiple registers/rates or multiple meters? These were common with electrically heated flats and houses.0 -
Yes, I had this problem in my last property when first trying to switch. The class was still set to "Commercial" in the national meter database, as the place had been a business premises some years before and obviously nobody had updated the database.
Your current supplier has to fix the error before you can try switching again. In my case, the existing supplier was Ovo who fixed it within a couple of weeks, which was great bearing in mind that the only reason I wanted it sorted was so I could switch away from them!0
