Faulty Microwave - Online retailer refuses to collect

So I've just received a Microwave in the post from a Go Electrical, the item was DOA,
They will refund but only if I take it to a post office (they provided postage labels), I can't physically carry the microwave to the post office without help so wondering what my options are, I could make a few calls but I don't really want to bother family or friends with this.

Ask if they'll arrange for a courier to collect it from you.0

I have requested collection but due to the value of the item, the manager refused.0 -
You best chance for a quick outcome would be to ask around friends and neighbours, see if anyone is able to help you drag it to the post office.(Although I could be wrong, I often am.)0

Im sure one of your friends or family wont see this as much of an inconvenience if all they have to do is drop it off at the post office for you ..
I would do it in a heartbeat if you were my neighbour

Or you arrange a courier who can collect from you, and you claim the cost back from them. I doubt they can insist on your using a particular postage method to return it.0

I'll have to make some calls, the nearest post office is around a mile away, I guess I could take it on supermarket trolly, but it would be a bit of a struggle.
Retailers are usually a lot more accommodating when it comes to heavy bulky items.0 -
Have you tried replacing the fuse? Switch it with one from another (just make sure its the same values) appliance to check.
That aside, a microwave typically isn't £100+ so any other payment mechanisms you could use would be limited to non-statutory ones (chargeback, paypal claim etc). Which typically require you to return the goods and they won't cover postage. You could try arguing (if its chargeback at least) that the CRA's form terms of the contract (they do, but whether the bank would accept that argument is another matter) and part of those terms state retailers responsible to collect unless you agreed to return rejected goods.
Of course, that sounds like a lot more hassle than asking a friend to give you a lift of 1 mile. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
