Swap dishwasher and washing machine

Hi,

We’ve just moved in to a new house and we’re trying to figure out how to fit everything in the kitchen.
Currently there’s an integrated washing machine (looks maybe 10+ years old) and a free standing dishwasher. The washing machine is next to the sink and the dishwasher is by the back door so ideally I’d like to swap them over and probably replace the washing machine at the same time. Does this sound doable and would it be a big job? I’d like a built in dishwasher eventually but for now we’d just move the freestanding one into the space where the washing machine is.

They both need cold water, a waste pipe & power so it shouldn't be a problem.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

Is there enough space for the free standing dishwasher to fit where the integrated washing machine currently is?
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

One problem that might occur is if your kitchen doors and cabinets are different colours.

At the moment, the side of your sink unit that the integrated washing machine is next to is probably hidden by the machine+door (unless there's a panel between the two), and there's likely a panel between your integrated washing machine and FS dishwasher.

If you swap the appliances, there's a possibility that the side of the sink unit may be visible by the side of the FS appliance. This would cease to be an issue if you replaced the FS dishwasher with an integrated one as you mention that you might.

Just make sure to check the service voids at the back of the appliances to make sure there's enough space to run the pipework, or the appliance might end up sticking out from the worktops.
