hello has anyone else had problems with returns at tk maxx and homesense they are the same company, and sometimes share the same building / premises but when trying to return a item to tk maxx that i had bought at homesense they wouldn't let me, as homesense stores are few and far between, my nearest to were i live is a hours round trip, this seems unfair as i know there is one thats about 10 miles away that the homesense department is on the second floor and tk maxx department on the bottom floor in the same building, and the receipt you get if you buy from the homesense department is a tk maxx receipt, so why not accept homesense items at tk maxx, they sell identical items too, also the other week i returned a item to tk maxx and because it was more than £100 she had to get authority to refund it - they didn't need authority though when i spent £300 in there the other week

Nothing unfair about it I'm afraid. They are two different companies and you have a contract with one and not the other. Unless their policy says they offer reciprocal consumer rights you can only deal with the retailer you bought from.0

the thing is when they share the same building the receipt states at the top tk maxx / homesense and you can return them, but not when homesense is a stand alone store even if tk maxx as in some cases is next door - this seems double standards, but i appreciate what you are saying0

plus search the tk maxx website store locator and it also lists homesense stores as well0

TKMaxx have always sold homeware - bedding, towels, furniture, cookware - it's only in the last few years that they have established a few standalone stores selling only these items, but they are separate stores. The store which sells "Homesense" on one floor actually doesn't - it is selling homeware items which are also sold in Homesense stores. Just because two stores are owned by the same Group it doesn't follow that you have the right to return goods to any store within that Group, especially given the fact that stores do not legally have to refund money for "change of mind" returns - which would appear to be your reason for wishing to return items.0 -
Would you expect to be able to return an item to Sainsburys if you bought it in Argos? Ludicrous!0

Homesense is a separate entity. It even has a separate website. They sometimes sell the same goods, but then so do Asda and Tesco.0
