A number of couriers will not carry Lithium Ion batteries.

I requested a call back from customer services. They were adamant that nothing could be done on price and I would need to ship the package to them and they'd refund the shipping cost.

I asked if I could make a complaint that their returns (or sales) information should include a disclaimer for Lithium Ion batteries that there are courier restrictions. Rather than record a complaint they have decided to refund the entire cost of the battery without the requirement to return it. This was actioned quite quickly. The refund confirmation suggests that they've recorded that the product was faulty and refunded on that basis.

but you never bothered with the returns label.
So how do you know this wasn't covered by the method aligned to the label?

Because by referring to the Royal Mail website, which would have been the first place I went in order to return the item, it is clear that they won't ship a Lithium Ion battery.

Once again. You didnt get a returns label,so dont know what service Amazon would have put forward.
Eg they may have used Amazon logistics via drop off point.
This isnt about you posting the item back yourself

There is even a specific section of the Amazon.co.uk website relating to the return of hazardous goods (such as lithium batteries).

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_left_v4_sib?ie=UTF8&nodeId=201819170

and they state that the label they supply will allow the battery to be returned with a courier or they will arrange for a home collection.
In our Returns Support Centre you’ll receive either a pre-paid return label to be used with a particular carrier, or a return label which can be used with any carrier of your choice, depending on your location. Please don't use an alternative return method for these items other than that advised by our online returns support centre. Amazon may arrange for a specialist carrier to collect these items from within the UK.

I did get a returns label. The customer service agent forwarded it to me.

The only option given was to arrange to return the item myself.

A rather late reply as I've been abroad.

I read it the got a label but think I mean the physical action of posting the item, not Amazon organising the carrier.
