Nationwide Flex account without ID?

So I've recently applied online for a Nationwide Flex Account, the credit check passed fine but it said they'd be in touch with what forms of ID I'd have to take in branch at the end of the application..
However the following day I've received an email saying
''Welcome to Nationwide
We're really pleased to tell you that your application for a FlexAccount has been accepted. Thank you for choosing us and a big welcome to our Society.''
Along with the last digits of an account number/customer number and information saying I'll receive my bank card/pincode and account number in the post within 7-10 working days, does this mean I don't have to actually take ID in to a branch and they've verified me via credit referencing and I won't need to present in bank ID? Has anyone had any experience with this?

If they haven't asked for ID then they don't want it.0

This happened to me. The account was opened with all the stuff sent to me without any further notification about going in to present ID0

They do not need your ID and have opened your account straight away. I opened a FlexDirect recently and they required me to bring ID along with proof of address and a signed TnC agreement. I didn't get an email (as advertised) but rather a letter through the post on the 5th working day since applying.
The email you received is the second email I received after providing the forementioned documents to them basically saying the account is now open :cool:0 -
We already have Nationwide account and been customers for 13 year. My husband applied for new separate account, but Nationwide says he needs to come to the branch, because they don't have his signature on file. We have mortgage with them, and other products. No branches anywhere near and the closest one is open only until 4.30pm during the week, clearly for pensioners, not working people. Isn't it a bit ridiculous?0

Danske Bank didnt need ID or proof of address for our mortgage application. They 'traced us electronically' .... whatever that means0

Inevitably some such ID checks are negative or deficient in some way, and so at this stage the institution will go manual and ask the customer to attend branch or send documentation, but this is something of a last resort as it's time-consuming and (relatively) expensive.
So, while manual checks are unpopular with customers, the banks would prefer not to have to do them too, but ultimately they're effectively mandated by the regulatory requirements to Know Your Customer....0 -
Thanks guys, I assumed I'd atleast need to sign some sort of agreement and present ID but I guess not0
